About Disperse Dyes

The thermal migration process of disperse dyes can be explained as follows:

1. During the high temperature dyeing process, the structure of polyester fiber becomes loose, disperse dyes diffuse from the surface of the fiber to the inside of the fiber, and mainly act on the polyester fiber through hydrogen bond, dipole attraction and van der Waals force.

2. When the dyed fiber is subjected to high temperature heat treatment, the heat energy makes the polyester long chain with higher activity energy, which intensifies the vibration of the molecular chain, and relaxes the microstructure of the fiber, resulting in weakening of the bonds between some dye molecules and the long polyester chain. Therefore, some dye molecules with higher active energy and higher autonomy migrate from the inside of the fiber to the surface layer of the fiber with relatively loose structure, and combine with the surface of the fiber to form a surface layer dye.

3. In the wet fastness test, surface dyes with weak bonding and dyes adhering to the cotton sticky component can easily leave the fiber to enter the solution and contaminate the white cloth; or directly rub and adhere to the test white cloth, thus showing the wet fastness and wet fastness of the dyed product. The rubbing fastness decreases.

Disperse dyes are widely used in various processes and can be combined with disperse dyes to synthesize negative colors, such as polyester, nylon, cellulose acetate, viscose, synthetic velvet, and polyvinyl chloride. They can also be used to color plastic buttons and fasteners. Due to their molecular structure, they have a weak effect on polyester and only allow soft colors to pass to medium tones. The structure of polyester fibers has holes or tubes. When heated to 100°C, the hole or tube expands and the dye particles enter. The expansion of the pores is limited by the heat of the water-the industrial dyeing of polyester is carried out in a pressurized equipment at 130°C!

When disperse dyes are used for thermal transfer, full color can be achieved.
